"100-Year History" Permanent Museum Opens in Morioka 《HERALBONY NEWS》
Good evening. This is Marie from HERALBONY staff.
HERALBONY celebrated its 8th anniversary on July 24, 2026. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has supported us thus far.
To commemorate this milestone, we opened the permanent museum "HERALBONY 100-Year History MUSEUM" in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture, on Saturday, August 14, 2026.
A company only 8 years old creating a "100-year history" might sound a little strange. However, this museum is not a place to look back at the past. It is a place to pass on our intention to "create culture for the next 100 years" to the next generation.

Why a company 8 years old is creating a "100-year history"
Since its establishment in 2018, HERALBONY has developed a wide range of initiatives, including art, fashion, spatial design, and social action, all based on the expressions of artists with intellectual disabilities.
While "HERALBONY GALLERY" introduces encounters with artists and their works, this museum is a place to experience the journey we have built under the slogan "Unleash your unique brilliance," from the origins of the family to the trajectory of co-creation and actions toward society.
It is not a completed history, but an ongoing record that continues toward a culture 100 years from now. We designed it not as "a place to preserve" this journey, but as "a place to pass it on to the future."
Tracing 8 years of trajectory through 3 exhibition compositions
1|Origins "Even my brother, he's just a human being."
Born in Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture in 1991, Fumito and Takaya Matsuda, and their older brother Shota. The desire to change society's perception of their brother, who was diagnosed with autism, is at the root of everything. Shota's notebook where the word "HERALBONY" was left, Fumito's essay, Takaya's graduation project video "The Common Sense of 'Autistic' Shota Matsuda," and their mother Taeko's bookshelf. We trace the time each family member has continuously faced.
2|ISAI "I want to deliver this expression to society."
In 2015, an encounter with the "Runbinii Art Museum" in Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture, gave birth to the predecessor project "MUKU." Colorful geometric patterns like stained glass, black circles meticulously drawn with a ballpoint pen - from encounters with overwhelming expressions that overturn preconceptions, we exhibit reproductions of artists' works and early products such as ties and bow ties, representing the origins of our activities.
3|Society "Changing the barriers that exist in society."
Since its founding in 2018, HERALBONY has not only disseminated expressions but also continued to question the social system itself. The word "disabled person" (2020), #CAREVOTE (2022), "There are tax returns that give you goosebumps." (2023), #Don'tEraseDisabledPeople (2024), "May prejudice someday be removed" (2025) - these opinion advertisements and social actions are all exhibited in one place.
