Sayaka Sanpei
Sanpei's works are titled "Mocha Mocha" after their appearance of overlapping lines and the name given to them by the artist, but in reality they are an accumulation of numerous characters. This accumulation takes place on both sides of the paper, at the office she attends during the day, and also at home. The paper is folded on her way to and from home and the workshop, and many of the works have cross-shaped folds engraved into them. In fact, these are not the finished form. Once a certain amount of characters has been accumulated, Sanpei tears them into pieces of 3-4 cm and starts on the next blank piece of paper. The pieces on display are borrowed pieces that are just about ready to be torn.
