Interview about your
“Unframed Self”

What defines me is "moving for the sake of others," but when it comes to doing things for myself, I just don't have the energy. If I don't have the feeling of caring for someone, I can't put my heart into my work. So, when I'm alone, I really just laze around.
It's precisely because I love dedicating myself to others that even when time spent neglecting myself accumulates, I don't feel it's a burden. For me, it might even be like daily training. I don't have many "I want to do this" or "I want to do that" desires, so on my days off, I just lounge around in my underwear without dressing up (lol).

Stylist / DJ @hrkhrks
I originally danced, and my dream was to become a dancer. However, my mother was very strict and didn't support that path. I chose to get a job, but then I decided to push myself to the limit with my own time, physical strength, and mental resilience, so I boldly chose to become a stylist's assistant.
It was a huge decision that made me step far outside my comfort zone, but thanks to it, I realized how small the world I had seen until then was, and my perspective broadened dramatically.
That's when I thought, there are no rules, and there's really nothing you can't do. My father, who I was living with, also had a huge influence on me.
When I chose to live with my father, who was kind but sometimes strict and always on my side, it felt like my future suddenly opened up, and I gained a sense of being able to control my own life.
As a stylist, I draw inspiration from everything I encounter in my daily life. I'm always consciously taking in new information, whether it's a scenery that catches my eye or the color scheme of someone's outfit on the street. I often find many hints while taking a walk, which gives me many ideas.
My mood doesn't always align with the general fashion trends, and it changes very quickly. For example, last month I was drawn to sporty clothes with a tight silhouette, but now I'm interested in clothes with lace and frills.
Among the various scarves by artist Taiki Kurihara, I chose the one whose coloring best matched my current mood, following my inspiration. I love the abstract design based on black and white, and I want to wear it like a top, showing just the right amount of skin.

Silk scarf "Untitled"
Ryo Nakao
Born in 1998, residing in Shiga Prefecture. Joined Yamanami Kobo in 2017. He originally enjoyed cutting paper to make and observe propellers for his beloved electric fans. However, after observing him imitate the writing of staff members and trace letters on windows with his fingers, he was given an English newspaper, which he copied onto drawing paper. This became the catalyst for him to pursue painting. In addition to English letters, he also produces many works featuring numbers. When he paints, there is no hesitation or doubt; he finishes quickly, and the momentum and strength are reflected in the typography of the letters and numbers. He often traces letters repeatedly from above, changing colors and using brushes, pens, and sometimes even his fingers, which adds depth to his work. Recently, he has started creating works that depict not only letters but also people and his favorite things. His unique sensibilities are reflected in his works, along with his cool style.
Silk Scarf, Untitled
Taiki Kurihara (Yamanami Kobo | Shiga Prefecture)
Always innocent and endearing, he follows his whims, taking walks, lying down and basking in the sun, or humming his favorite words repeatedly as if singing. One day, we placed a sheet of drawing paper on the floor and handed him a container of paint. He casually poured the paint onto the paper. Perhaps at first, it was just by chance. The next day, and the day after that... As he continued to repeat the action, his intention gradually began to imbue the act of spilling paint. Sometimes powerfully, sometimes delicately, his formless and free expression, as if representing him, stains the drawing paper with paint.
