◼︎About the exhibition "Distant Closeness" -The Universe of Ittetsu Matsuoka and Yamanami Kobo-
This exhibition consists of works that photographer Ittetsu Matsuoka has taken over many years, as well as new photographs taken during his visit to Yamanami Kobo, a welfare facility in Shiga Prefecture, and collaborative works with artists affiliated with the facility. The participating artists are Rikuuto Yoshida, Yuki Ino, Yuya Oji, and NANA. The artists received photographs taken by Matsuoka, added drawings, and "responded" by carving their works, creating a dialogue between photography and painting like an epistolary exchange.

When artists who express themselves in different genres and methods touch each other's works, it creates trust and dialogue that transcend words. A new work is born when the world captured by Matsuoka's lens and the world seen through the eyes of the artists intersect, raising fundamental questions about "seeing," "connecting," and "existing."
