◼︎About the exhibition "Distant Closeness" - Ittetsu Matsuoka and the Universe of Yamanami Kobo -
This exhibition is composed of photographer Ittetsu Matsuoka's long-accumulated works, new photographs taken during his visit to Yamanami Kobo, a welfare facility in Shiga Prefecture, and collaborative works with artists affiliated with the same facility. The participating artists are Rikuo Yoshida, Yuki Ino, Yuya Ohji, and NANA. Artists who received Matsuoka's photographs drew over them, "responding" and creating works that led to a dialogue between photography and painting, much like an exchange of letters.

When these artists, who express themselves through different genres and methods, interact with each other's works, trust and dialogue that transcend words are born. As the world captured by Matsuoka's lens and the world seen through the artists' eyes intersect, new works emerge, and fundamental questions of "seeing," "connecting," and "existing" come to the forefront.
