About Us

HERALBONY license artworks by artists with disabilities to create products and creative collaborations, enabling fair and continuous income through a long-term licensing model.

HERALBONY was founded in 2018 by twin brothers in Japan who have a brother with autism and severe intellectual disability. Today, HERALBONY works with more than 300 artists worldwide. Some artists earn equivalent of a full professional salary in Japan.

From the beginning, our role has been to carefully receive each artist’s story—their life, thoughts, and creative journey—and translate it into products with sincerity and warmth. We devote exceptional care to how each artwork is realized, from materials and craftsmanship to quality and finishing.

This work is built on trust.Across countries and cultures, artists with disabilities face similar challenges. To be entrusted with art that has been created and protected through many hardships, we believe in meeting people as people—listening closely, spending time together, and building genuine relationships.

HERALBONY is an leading creative company working with artists whose creativity has long been overlooked. Our aim is to create a new culture and challenge preconceived ideas about disability through art.

Founded in Iwate, northern Japan, by three brothers, HERALBONY was born out of a family story. The eldest brother, Shota, is autistic and lives with an intellectual disability. During their childhood, the twin brothers were deeply affected by the pitying looks their family and friends gave their brother. This experience fueled their desire to change perceptions of disability by revealing the power of creativity.

“HERALBONY” was a random word our autistic brother Shota wrote down in his notebook when he was seven.
Maybe he liked how it tickled his senses, maybe he liked how the word looked when written down. He liked it, he saw meaning in it, so he wrote it. The company was namedHERALBONY in the hope to capture and create new values in the small things that may, at first, seem insignificant.

In May 2024, HERALBONY received the LVMH Innovation Award. A few months later, in July, the company opened a French subsidiary at Station F in Paris.

From France, a land of art and culture, HERALBONY is taking a new step in building a world where each of the eight billion human beings can express their own "colors" — a world where disability is no longer a hindrance, but a source of richness and value.
