An exhibition project like a "correspondence" where photography and art intersect

This exhibition will consist of works that photographer Ittetsu Matsuoka has been collecting for many years, as well as new photographs taken during a visit to Yamanami Kobo, a welfare facility in Shiga Prefecture, and collaborative works with artists who work at the facility.
The participating artists are Rikuto Yoshida , Yuki Ino , Hiroya Oji , and NANA. The artists received the photographs taken by Matsuoka and then added drawings to them, carving their own works into a "response," creating a dialogue between the photographs and the paintings that resembles a correspondence.
Matsuoka's comments on this special exhibition are wonderful, so we would like to introduce some of them here.
"We should not simply leave our interpretation of the world to the rules of the world,
These are words that I reinterpret in my own head and then spit out,
It's like words, but it's not, it's like music,
It's in their own language, so at first it's hard to understand.
But once you understand it, it feels really good.
There is also joy in being able to understand.
Everyone I met at Yamanami was the same.
Each one lives in their own universe.
So it's hard to understand at first.
But once you understand it, it's okay.
The rest is fine.”

Rikuto Yoshida
Rikuto Yoshida established his current style of work when he happened to pick up a fashion magazine and started doodling with his pen. His style of freely and effortlessly adding colors in an exquisite arrangement on top of Matsuoka's photographs is truly unique.
"Untitled #36" original artwork
Yuki Ino
In this piece, Yuki Ino's drawings seem to gently envelop students on their way to and from school. Ino and Rikuto are great friends and work side by side. When he visited our gallery in Ginza the other day, Rikuto told us that the piece depicts a "house." What does it look like to you?
"Untitled #13" original artwork
NANA
Another unique piece is this one, featuring drawings by NANA. The animals have lively expressions that make you want to have a conversation with them.
We also have works by various other artists on display. Please check them out.
