Masaki Mori | Original artwork
Born in 1969, he lives in Shiga Prefecture. He has been a member of Atelier Yamanami since 2016. While studying graphic design at what is now Nagoya Designer Academy, he attended a concert by John Cage and became interested in American experimental music. Aiming to visualize acoustic space, he has since produced the "Jiuta" series of drawings, inspired by the expansive spatiality of underground/psychedelic rock. His ongoing series includes the "Gig" series, which depicts the blocky sound images of postmodern music by artists such as John Zorn. His drawings, with their nervous lines reminiscent of Hans Bellmer and Miyanishi Keizo, also express the cracks in his existential anxiety caused by his long battle with illness.
