Since childhood, Akaike Ryoya has continued to paint motifs that have captured his heart with free-flowing lines. After participating in the art club in high school, he broadened his range of expression, pursuing his own unique palette using acrylic paints and colored pencils. His portraits accurately capture the characteristics and expressions of his subjects with an impressive rhythm created by the strength and flexibility of his lines, and the eyes of his subjects, which are both sharp and gentle, exude a unique presence.
The sketchbooks he has accumulated contain a variety of motifs, and by repeatedly drawing the same subject, he expresses his desire to capture its essence.
This exhibition will introduce Akaike's perspective and the breadth of his expression through a collection of works born from this creative approach. For Akaike, whose creative motivation is the joy of meeting and connecting with people through painting, this first solo exhibition marks an important milestone.
