Wear unique art.

HERALBONY
Summer 2025

Writers with disabilities,
Art born from a strong identity.
Through products that pursue the expression of these things,
It is a brand that creates a new culture in society.

Kahoru Sugimoto

Title unknown

Born in 1979, lives in Shiga Prefecture.
He has been with Yamanami Kobo since 1998.

Using paper cups, participants choose their favorite color and carefully stamp each one. The circles on the paper cups are stacked in various colors to create a vibrant finish.
For her, the act of stamping is considered work, and it gives her a sense of accomplishment, fulfillment, and motivation.

Momoko Nakagawa

Momoko

Born in 1996, lives in Shiga Prefecture.
He has been with Yamanami Studio since 2015.

At first, she wrote her own name, "Momoko," over and over again. Her expression then progressed to drawing circles instead of her name, as if she was enjoying the feeling of drawing.
While smiling and humming along, she used paint, ballpoint pens, and colored pencils to create multiple circles, and the resulting colorful work seems to express her cheerful expression.

Sanae Sasaki

Untitled

Belongs to Lumbini Museum of Art.

She continues to produce a wide variety of expressions, not only painting but also weaving, paper cutting, embroidery, and other media, all of which are intricate, colorful, and intricately constructed.
She usually concentrates on one project for months or years, then suddenly quits and moves on to another. Currently, she is devoted to painting round cut-out pieces of paper in multiple colors in concentric circles, then lining up the painted pieces of paper and pasting them on the wall.

Naoto Iguchi

Untitled

Belongs to Saffron Living School.

His daily routine is to use the copy machines at convenience stores and public buildings in town to make copies of his own face and whatever he likes at the time.
By pressing his face against the glass surface and operating the buttons himself, and moving his body in tandem with the movement of the sensor light, he creates a unique distortion on the screen. The stickers that are frequently used in the work are prize entry stickers that he peeled off while working with aluminum cans at the facility, and he has won many times in the past.
I've been going to my local convenience store every day for over 20 years, and when I finish, the staff member skillfully wipes the oil from my face off the glass.

Satoru Kobayashi

numbers

Belongs to Lumbini Museum of Art.

If you look closely, you can see that it is made up of a series of connected numbers.
While attending a junior high school for the disabled, Kobayashi began to write all of his letters in his diary and essays in a unique arrangement. At first, his teachers struggled to find a way to correct his writing, but they soon came to see it as an attractive form of expression. This was the turning point, and his writing began to take flight as art that brings joy to many people.

about

HERALBONY

Stand out.

It means that it's not “normal.”
At the same time, I think that's a possibility.

We separate this world,
Go beyond the boundaries of preconceptions and common sense.

And various "uniqueness",
Delivering it to society in various forms,
We will create a new culture based on welfare.

Disability is not a deficiency,
Become a paintbrush

HERALBONY is an art lifestyle brand from Iwate Prefecture that aims to create new culture together with artists from welfare facilities both in Japan and overseas.
The unfamiliar word "HERALBONY" is a mysterious word that was written in a notebook by the older of the twin Matsuda brothers, the company's founders, who is four years older than the older brother and has a severe intellectual disability and autism, when he was seven years old. These words may not have any meaning to the world. However, there was something that struck me, and that is why I wrote these words. These words are filled with the meaning of wanting to create value for the world by planning ideas that may seem meaningless at first glance.
