■Delicate weave expressing art, with an elegant luster
The advanced silk weaving technique that reproduces the brushstrokes of uniqueartists is thanks to the artisans of the Taya Weaving Studio in Yamagata. By allowing the weft threads to float as much as possible without being pressed down, a three-dimensional effect is created, like a bas-relief with a luster.
■Easy to tie knot that keeps its shape
General ties use fabric with "3 layers in 1 line," where three threads are arranged in a line, and no threads pass through the back (middle) of the fabric where the pattern is not visible. Ginza Taya's fabric has "6 layers in 1 line." It also uses more than double the usual number of colors, and threads are securely passed through the back (middle) to maintain a uniform and consistent thickness. Additionally, since ultrafine threads half the usual thickness are used, the fabric density is high and the texture is supple. This allows the knot to maintain its beautiful shape without collapsing, providing a comfortable tying experience.
About Ginza Taya
Taya was founded in Ginza in 1905 as a Western fancy goods store. It dealt in imported goods, which were then called "Karamono" (foreign goods). Gentlemen in Western attire, as well as foreign residents, were said to have visited the store. As time progressed, Taya quickly ventured into domestic tie production, leading to its reputation as "Tie no Taya" (Taya of Ties) to this day. Currently, original products also include shirts and jackets, and like ties, all fabrics are woven in their own workshop.
