A huge 13m-long wall art piece will be exhibited at the Osaka Kansai Expo
Asuka Tazaki 's "Forest Path - Blue Forest" will appear at the Expo as a giant mural.
The installation is on the exterior wall of a building adjacent to the "Forest of Silence" area, a new green space project created within the site of the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo. The space, which gives a sense of the quiet strength of the "Forest Path - Blue Forest," is overlaid with the essence of Kenji Miyazawa's fairy tale "Kenju Park Forest."
"Kenju Park Forest" is the story of a cedar sapling planted by Kenju, who was mocked by those around him, which grows into a beautiful park where children play after his death. This story, in which the actions of one person change the landscape over time, seems to symbolize the regeneration of greenery in cities and the value of diversity and coexistence.
The activities of HERALBONY, which has been based in Iwate and has been connecting the diversity of expression with local culture, and Kenji Miyazawa's lifelong deep appreciation for the nature and people of Iwate, live on in this work, and the spirit of both lives on like a forest that quietly takes root in the city.
