The title of this work is "Wristwatch." As you gaze at it, your imagination runs wild, thinking, "Is this the band?" or "Could this be the hands of the clock?"

Mr. Oji's works, which effortlessly transcend our common sense, always captivate us.

Mr. Oji's works are intricately created with pens of various colors. Do such free forms come from his imagination? Surprisingly, Mr. Oji always draws his works while carefully looking at photographs of the subjects.

When I ask Mr. Oji, who is in the middle of creating, "What part are you drawing now?", he points to the photograph and tells me "Here." But when I compare it again with the work being drawn... the forms that emerge on the drawing paper through Mr. Oji's gaze are truly "unique."

An Entertainer's Personality That Shines Through His Works

When music plays, he air-guitars and sings along to the rhythm; when a vehicle backs up, he over-acts to guide it; during breaks, he mimics smoking a cigarette. Mr. Oji is constantly aware of his surroundings, entertaining others and bringing smiles to their faces through his self-performances.

Perhaps his surprising artistic creations are one such performance.

When he gave a live painting performance at the Ginza Gallery previously, his comical gestures and kind gaze while interacting with customers and children around him left a lasting impression.

Hiroya Oji Appearance Event on Saturday, February 21st
